NEW FEATURES/PLEA FOR PATIENCE - As you can see, I've added links above to all of the reviews and articles I wrote as the film critic for The Daily Iowan. I've also added links to a sampling of my academic essays on film and a brief biography. Some personal news I should share because it will directly impact my blogging: I'm relocating to Chicago (later today, in fact) from Iowa City to start a new job. The good news is that CS will now be able to cover more independent and arthouse flicks that can only be seen in major cities (right when they open, anyway), in addition to events like the Chicago Internation Film Festival, which runs October 4-18. I've got nothin' but love for Iowa City, but for a movie buff, Chicago has to be one of the most exciting cities in the country to live in. The bad news is that this first week could be kind of sketchy in terms of blogging. I'm moving into temporary housing tonight and have no idea what my Internet access will be like yet. But please be patient. I saw Barbershop over the weekend and still have some thoughts to share on Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. I'm also eager to address an issue that came up in one of Roger Ebert's recent Movie Answer Man columns -- just who is a film critic supposed to be writing for? I'll have these posts and more up as soon as I get organized in the Windy City. Stay tuned...
